The summer sun is out, which means we’re saying sayonara to cooped-up toes and hello to low cut styles that flaunt your feet. Unfortunately, summer shoes often have an evil side-effect: many of these shoes leave you with blistery ankles and filthy feet thanks to their (gorgeous) side slits, weaving, or strappy designs.
What's the point of having a great outfit on, complete with the perfect shoes, if your feet sport the good old blisters or bloody heels?>
Don’t fret -- Combatting these toe terrors is easier than you might think! Here are some of our favorite tips for keeping your feet feeling refreshed no matter what shoes you feel like rocking this season.
Wear no-show socks as often as possible
The more often you wear socks with your shoes, the more protection they’ll get from the elements. It’ll also keep your shoes from wearing down faster due to sweat and friction.
Bandage your Heels before you go
People say fashion is pain, but it doesn’t have to be! Stop sores before they can form by using bandaids or athletic tape on problem areas, or placing padding in between the shoe and your foot.
Weather-proofing your shoes with water resistant sprays can make a world of difference by keeping your shoes intact and providing a buffer from excess dirt.
DIY Scrubs to deal with the aftermath
Treat yourself to a spa day at home by making a scrub using kitchen items! Common combos are: sugar, honey, and lemon; sea salt and peppermint; and coffee grounds and olive oil. Be careful to not rub these directly on open wounds though, as they may sting or cause infection.
